The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy AWD SUV

You Are What You Drive - A Bottom Line Review
By Tony Leopardo - The Car Guy © AutoWire.Net

What is a Palisade? The Palisade is a midsize SUV built in the Ulsan, Korea assembly plant, and sold in North America by Hyundai. The 2026 Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy Edition is the top of the line 3 row model, and it combines a fuel efficient turbo hybrid engine with all wheel drive capability and premium luxury features, at a mainstream affordable price point.

The breakdown of the 2026 Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy AWD SUV name:
2026: The model year, which features a bold, fully redesigned exterior and interior for this new generation.
Palisade: Hyundai's flagship model, and it's a spacious 3 row family SUV.
Hybrid: Instead of the standard V6, it uses a 2.5L liter turbocharged 4 cylinder gas engine paired with an electric motor.
Calligraphy: The most luxurious trim level available, offering upgrades usually reserved for high end luxury brands.
AWD: All Wheel Drive, specifically Hyundai's HTRAC system, which gives you maximum traction in rain, snow, and light off road conditions.
SUV: Stands for Sport Utility Vehicle. It refers to a classification of vehicles that combine the passenger comfort of a traditional sedan, with the off road capabilities and rugged design of a truck, typically featuring higher ground clearance with ample cargo space and extra passenger room.

Key specs and performance:
Power: Has 329 HP combined horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor provides instant acceleration, making it quicker and more responsive than the standard gas engine only version.
Fuel economy: An EPA estimated 29 MPG combined, allowing for an incredibly long driving range of approximately 528 miles on a single tank of fuel.
Towing: Up to 4,000 lbs. when properly equipped.

Luxury Calligraphy features:
What sets the Calligraphy trim apart are the elevated features you normally find in high end luxury vehicles, and are an unmatched value in this price range.
Interior comfort: Premium Nappa leather seating, genuine wood trim, and a massaging driver's seat.
First class seating: Heated and ventilated front and second row seats, plus power reclining second and third rows. The front seats even feature a relaxation mode that reclines the seat and extends the leg rest.
Tech: Has massive curved dual screen displays, a head up windshield display, front and rear built in dash cams, and smart remote parking.

To promote this new 2026 model, this week Hyundai sent me a Palisade Hybrid to test drive and review. The base window sticker price for this Calligraphy AWD Edition is $56,790. The only options on the SUV are the special matte paint for $995 and the carpeted floor mats for $250. The manufacturer's suggested retail price, MSRP, including the $1,545 delivery charge is: $59,580.

After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealer fees, the out the door and in your driveway total purchase price came to $67,028. At just 28 bucks over $67 Grand you get a top of the line near luxury SUV, that gets 29 MPG in city driving, 30 MPG in highway driving, and 29 MPG in combined driving. These are great numbers for a 3 row SUV with all the amenities and options of a much more expensive vehicle.

So, who is the buyer for a 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy AWD SUV?
The buyer for a Hyundai Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy SUV is typically an affluent family or empty nester who wants a luxury tier SUV, and prioritizes high fuel economy and family practicality. These buyers are defined by specific lifestyle and financial traits.

Affluent families & larger car seekers: They have lots of kids, or regularly carpool, and they need the 3rd row and 7 to 8 seats, and want premium features, like power sliding second row captain's chairs, and microfiber trim.
Budget conscious luxury buyers: Starting around $58,380, this buyer values premium features, like the Nappa leather seating and an upscale interior, and wants to avoid the higher maintenance and premium costs of the traditional luxury brands.
Efficiency minded commuters: They are environmentally conscious, or simply want to save money on gas, because this AWD hybrid averages around 29 MPG on the highway, and it draws buyers who might be looking at a larger and thirsty SUV.
Cross shoppers: This buyer is actively evaluating top tier trims of mainstream competitors. They usually compare the Hyundai Palisades to the Toyota Grand Highlander, the Mazda CX-90 and the Lexus TX 500h.

So, if your buying budget is in the $60,000 range you should put the Palisades at the top of your ride and drive list, and then call, click or visit your local Hyundai dealer for a test drive, and a bottom line price review on the 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy AWD SUV. The tagline for Hyundai is Make Everyday Feel Epic, and remember that the base price for a new 2026 Hyundai Palisades starts at only $39,435.

The key to life is to learn something new every day, and by reading my Bottom Line review, I hope you did just that, learned about something new and exciting. So, be smart, stay safe, and just breathe. Remember, You Are What You Drive, and maybe, just for those reasons alone, you should Drive one, Buy one, Today. Drive safely, have a great day, and enjoy the ride, as the future looks nice and bright - Tony the Car Guy.
